Replace Porcelain Veneers
However, the most frequent reason that we need to replace porcelain veneers is that they were initially done in a way that was disappointing to the patient. Many dentists, while they promote themselves as cosmetic dentists, aren’t artists and their idea a beautiful smile isn’t good enough for many patients. They are generally wonderful, ethical practitioners. It’s just that they chose the dental profession because they like to fix things, and they don’t have an artistic mentality. Dr. Cohen, however, is an artist who loves to create beautiful smiles. So, often, patients who have had a smile makeover done by a general dentist will come to him and want him to re-do it.
Replacing porcelain veneers is the same process as getting them in the first place. Since they bond to the tooth and become just like your enamel, they can’t be just popped off. So Dr. Cohen will shave off about half a millimeter from the front of the tooth. If that isn’t enough to remove all the porcelain, he will continue on until all the porcelain is removed. And he is very experienced in telling porcelain from enamel or dentin, so removing too much isn’t an issue. You won’t have to worry about your tooth being ground down too much while you’re in Dr. Cohen’s care.
