Chicago Porcelain Veneers
Serving Illinois Patients in Chicago, Schaumburg, Arlington Heights, and Surrounding Areas
Porcelain veneers from accredited Chicago cosmetic dentist Dr. Bill Cohen can do wonders to brighten your smile, with quick results for an "instant" smile makeover. Porcelain veneers, or laminates, are thin shells of porcelain designed to fit directly over your natural teeth. Bonded with advanced techniques that often are not taught in dental schools, porcelain veneers create a whiter, brighter, younger smile that you will be proud to show off. No more hiding your smile!

Their application is painless and easy, and can be completed in as few as two visits. It usually, but not always, involves shaving a small amount of enamel, about the thickness of a fingernail, from the front of the tooth, as shown in the diagram to the left. A master ceramist then makes them according to Dr. Cohen's prescription for shade and shape. In the second appointment, they are bonded to your teeth, and you have a beautiful new smile! |
Dr. Cohen can fix a wide variety of problems with porcelain veneers, including chips, cracks, gaps, crookedness, discoloration, and size inconsistencies. Many of our patients choose them as a convenient and affordable alternative to time-consuming orthodontic treatment.
Lumineers®
Lumineers® are a particular
brand which we

Advantages of porcelain
Dental porcelain is a glass-like substance which makes it highly
resistant to staining. This means that (assuming good dental
hygiene) your veneers will remain pearly and natural-looking for
their long lifetime.
What makes porcelain look like our natural teeth?
- It absorbs and reflects light in the same way our natural teeth do. Light enters our tooth enamel and reflects back off the layer underneath that, which is the dentin layer, a darker color than the enamel. In the same way, light enters the porcelain and reflects back off the bonding material that holds the veneers in place. As a result, both enamel and porcelain look shiny and attractive.
- When Dr. Cohen designs your Lumineers® or traditional veneers, he will match the shade to the shade of your teeth. That will make it virtually impossible to tell the difference between your veneers and your natural teeth.
During your porcelain veneer consultation, Dr. Cohen will discuss the benefits and veneer placing process. During your next visit, Dr. Cohen will take an impression of your teeth using a molding clay. The unique impression is then sent to our lab for the custom creation of your new porcelain veneers. The porcelain color is tweaked to match your natural tooth shade. You will visit us one more time for the placement of your permanent porcelain veneers. Even though the veneers are wafer-thin, Dr. Cohen will attach them with a super strong bonding agent for a long lasting, durable result. When your last appointment is completed, you'll be left with beautiful, natural-looking teeth!
